Bought this at a little shop and am not sure what it is. I don't think it is just baby bok choy. It's a little hard to tell in the picture but the stalks are only about the size of a quarter in diameter and no leaves have been removed. The leaves are a lot like the various boy choy variants we've had before but very straight, not curving outward like the bok choy I normally buy. I was wondering anyone knew what exactly it is.
Okay: a couple more pictures for scale:

looks like baby bok choy to me too! :)
Yeah, but it is like 1/2 the size of the smallest baby bok choy I've seen before. Honestly, it isn't much bigger around than my thumb and the leaves are tighter together.
I love that you bought it even though you had no idea what it was! I always want to do that when I see something new but I usually only do if it is properly labled. I have no useful advice only well wishes and admiration. :)
Aw, thanks Eviedee! We figured we'd like it and we do, it is a lot like bok choy or Shangai cabbage.
would you be able to take a picture of it next to something that could be a standard size reference? like a dollar bill or something like that - just for a good size reference. it's really difficult to tell with it all stacked up in the bag like that - it looks huge!
Done! The whole bag is maybe 8 inchs tall.
It is probably just a different version of baby bok choy.

google to the rescue again!
I don't think it is any of those or even any form of baby bok choy. I've actually eaten/grown most of those varieties...and this isn't that. As I said, the bottom half isn't curved in that classic hourglass bok choy shape and the leaves are similar but shaped different. Thanks for trying though.
What I want to see is that Hybrid Shanghai Tall type Miao is a hybrid of, that isn't quite it, but it is pretty close.
Maybe it could be tat soi? It looks like it to me. I hadn't really heard of it until recently when I bought some for planting in my garden this summer, but it really is quite similar to bok choy, only with smaller leaves.
Lotte! You know, I think that is it! Thanks!
