Cake Stand

I saw this glass cake stand at Target for only $8. I didn't buy it, but it seems like a good deal. I've been tempted to get one in the past but am not sure if I make cakes frequently enough to make the storage space commitment. This model doubles as a punch bowl when you flip both the base and cover upside down which makes it a little a little less of a single use item. Not that I make lots of punch either, but it is it a interesting feature.

That's cute. If I had the space and made cakes, I might buy it, but then I'd probably knock it over and break it. It looks dangerously top heavy.

Like Danielle, I also have too little space for such a divine cake dish. But it doubles as a punch bowl? I need more room.

I have one of these, and use it to store/display quick breads (banana bread, coffeecake, etc.) made in a Buundt pan, or bar cookies (stacked in a neat pile) or muffins (ditto) or a pie, or pretty much anything else. I can usually keep a loaf of bread in there, esp. if I make a round "rustic" loaf. And I've used the punch bowl for serving trifle, layered bean dips, etc. It is actually a more versatile container than I'd first thought when I received it as a gift. For only eight bucks, you almost can't go wrong! :)

How neat it doubles as a cake stand and a punch bowl. And I know you know what I'm about to say next...check out some estate sales too if you decide you want one. You might find a lovely vintage one for $8 or less :)

I got one of these as a wedding gift and it's really great. I, too, keep muffins, cookies or whaterver baked goods I've made recently in it. It's on the kitchen table to tempt us!

I just bought it...it was the punch bowl thing that sold me. It cost just as much to ship though as the actual item...that part sucked.
