When my mom stopped by yesterday, she dropped off this purple broccoli she bought at the Farmer's Market! It's purple! It honestly looks like someone just dipped it in purple dye-the stem and smaller florets underneath are still green. I am looking forward to seeing if it will keep the color after cooking. I love how there has been a revival of heirloom vegetables and introductions of new varieties in the marketplace lately. It used to be thought that the American public wouldn't buy "exotic" produce but I think that perception is slowly turning around.
